Where Are You?

Genesis 3:8-9
“And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”

Adam and Eve, who had once enjoyed close, personal, sweet, face-to-face fellowship with God, were now afraid of Him so they hid themselves.
Why did the LORD God ask them, “Where are you?”  Doesn’t He know all things?
Well yes, of course He does.  Of course He knew where they were.  So why did He ask the question at all?
First Question.
This is the very first question recorded in the Bible. But God didn’t ask it because He didn’t know where they were:  The problem was, they didn’t know where they were, now that sin had entered in .
It was now His sorrowful task to tell them the consequences of their breaking of the one and only commandment.  The answer to His question, however, would have no answer until 4,000 years later.
How terribly heartbroken He must have been to have to tell His beloved ones of their fallen condition and their broken relationship.  There would no more face to face walks with Him in the cool of the garden, no more sweet communion together, nor could they see His face.
The Answer.
What is the answer to God’s question?  It is found in the answer to the first question recorded in the New Testament.
(Wise men ask Herod where Jesus would be born)
In the gospel of Matthew, the Holy Spirit eloquently records that answer for us.
Matthew 2:1-2
1 “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, WHERE IS HE THAT IS BORN KING OF THE JEWS? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”
The answer is “COME.  COME AND FIND HIM Who is born King of the Jews. Come and worship Him.”
Come As You Are.
The answer is, “Come and seek Jesus!  Come and worship Him.”  He is the answer to all your problems.  He is the One Who can redeem your situation.
Wherever you are, whatever you’ve done, whatever your situation in life, COME.  Come just as you are.  Come and find Jesus.  He is the only One worthy of all worship and praise!  He paid a debt He did not owe for us who owed a debt we could not pay.
His offer is still standing.  He is still holding out His nail-pierced hand offering salvation freely to “Whosoever will.”  Accept His free gift, which was anything but free to Him.
It cost Jesus and His Father EVERYTHING!  But He paid it willingly.  HALLELUJAH !
What better gift could you get at Christmas, your birthday ofr,for that matter, at any time of the year?!  Eternal life: The gift that keeps on giving!
So…..Where are you?
