Fear (יראה) = Worship = Wisdom: Spiritual Warfare Part 7.

Luke 4:6
“All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”
(…and Jesus’ response)
Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall WORSHIP the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.”

Finally, the last word in our fight against evil is to find out “How did Jesus defeat Him?” Fortunately for us, He gave us a personal demonstration!

Fear Not.

365 times throughout the Bible, God tells us to “Fear not; Be not afraid,” or words to that effect.  Do you know why?  Because He knew that in these last days, “Fear,” would be our greatest enemy.   How does He define fear?  Jesus clearly shows us, though the answer may surprise you! 😉

Tempted By The Devil.

At the end of His 40 days of being tested in the wilderness, the devil told Jesus that he would give Him all power and authority, as recorded in Luke 4.  Pretty brazen for a created being to say such a thing to the One Who Created EVERYTHING!!  What is he talking about?

He was trying to trick Jesus, of course; but He wasn’t fooled.  He can neither be deceived by sin nor tempted by it.  According to the Apostle Peter, did no sin, He knew no sin according to Paul, and in Him is no sin as documented by John, the beloved disciple.

How To Defeat Attacks Of The Enemy.
Look at Jesus’ response:  He spoke God’s word to him.  He did so every time the devil tried to tempt Him. That’s a BIG clue for us!
Here He is, the Son of the Living God!  He could have said anything He wanted to, right?  I mean, He’s God!  But…..He didn’t.  He didn’t use His own words thereby demonstrating to us how you and I can defeat the devil EVERY TIME:  Speak out the word of God!!
Jesus’ Definition Of Fear.
In the opening scripture, Jesus was quoting Deuteronomy: 6:13 which literally says, “You shall FEAR (yaré יראה) the Lord your God and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name.”
Did you notice anything different?  The word, “Worship,” doesn’t appear.  Jesus substituted “Worship” for the word “Fear” in the Old Testament verse.  So “Fear” the LORD Jesus defines as “Worship!”

Secrets In The Hebrew Language.
The Holy Spirit, as usual, delights in taking things a step further.  He is SO COOL!  He uses the Hebrew letters to underscore this truth!
Hebrew, in case you didn’t know, reads from right to left left.  It is actually a form of picture writing, like Chinese. These pictures are very consistent.  Yirah is spelled like this in Hebrew: יִרְאָה
The letters that make up the word are as follows with their meanings:
[י] yod:  open hand/power
[ר] resh:  think/meditate/head or leader
[א] aleph:  ox, sacrifice
[ה] hei:  grace
The word pictures tell a story, give us a window on God’s perspective, and show us things you would never get from any definition:  When you “meditate” on the “power” of Jesus’ “sacrifice” and His “Grace,” you feel an overwhelming desire to “fear-worship” the Lord!

HALLELUJAH!!!

The Beginning Of Knowledge.
That brings us to another revelation.  In Proverbs 1:7 it tells us that “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,” right?  And what is “fear?  WORSHIP!  So you could just as accurately say that “WORSHIP IS THE BEGINNING OF KNOWLEDGE!”

…..and that, Church, is the last word in how to defeat the devil. Understand that Fear = Worship…….which equals Wisdom!
