A Message In The Begets Of Genesis 5: Flood Series Part 6

Genesis 5:1-3
“1 This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.  2 He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created. 3 And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.”
“Genesis 5?  Isn’t that before the flood?” Why yes; Yes, it is!  We’re back here because God has given us a wonderful message in this chapter. He wants to bless and encourage us and show us a timeline of events that are both happening now and will happen very soon.
In parts 1-5 we discussed what the world was like at the time of the flood, Who was with them “IN” the Ark (Jesus) during the flood, the changes to the Jewish calendar, some interesting things about doves and ravens, and God’s covenant that is still in effect to this day: The rainbow. 🌈
Now we’re going to learn some amazing things in this beautiful message from God to us in Noah’s genealogy. These contain the prophetic elements of this story.  This will show us more wonderful things about Jesus, the Church, and about the 21st century.  Exciting! 😍
Not Boring Anymore!
The opening passage is the beginning of Genesis chapter five.  It’s one of those portions of scripture that is one begat after another. {Yawn} 💤 💤💤  Have you ever wondered why God put this chapter, and others like it, in the Bible?  I did too.  They used to make me very sleepy. To be honest, half of the time, I would just sorta skim over the whole thing. 🤫 Then I learned that all names in Hebrew have a meaning.  When I began to study the meanings of names recorded here, all those beget chapters have come alive.  They’re anything but boring anymore! 🙌🏻
If you have felt the same way, perhaps what I learned that has blessed me will bless you, too. So, Church, let’s go through those “boring” begets.
The “Begets.”
Adam begot Seth.
Seth begot Enosh.
Enosh begot Cainan.
Cainan begot Mahalalel.
Mahalalel begot Jared.
Jared begot Enoch.
Enoch begot Methuselah.
Methuselah begot Lamech.
Lamech had a son and he called his name Noah.
(Are you snoring yet?  ZZZZzzzzzzz 🤭)

Nothing Is Arbitrary.
See what I mean?  By themselves, they’re pretty boring, aren’t they?  Now, besides the obvious historical significance, why does God put these chapters in the Bible? Well, it turns out, this is another amazing example of the fact that there is no such thing as a superfluous detail in the Bible.  Nothing is arbitrary.  Nope, NOTHING.  The Holy Spirit has a reason for every single letter, every single word, and every single phrase from Genesis to Revelation.  Even the order in which they are placed has meaning as well as each individual Hebrew letter.  😮😁
There are nuggets of truth hidden from one end of the Bible to the other that tell us bout Jesus in the names of people, places, and things as well as in the Hebrew letters themselves. There is even meaning in all the numbers in Hebrew, known for centuries to the rabbis as “Gematria.”  Everything contains wonderful messages woven together to tell the incomparable story of our awesome Jesus!

Best of all, the Bible begins to take on new and deeper meaning and becomes an even greater blessing.  And best if all, when you learn to see Jesus in all the scriptures concerning Himself, you fall head over heels in love with Him all over again!
 (Noah preached to his generation.)
Prophetic Of The Last Days.
Genesis is a very prophetic book.  Incredible as it may seem, there are many end-time prophecies contained within its 50 chapters.  It may quite possibly be the most prophetic book of them all. In fact, In the last days, the entire book of Genesis will play out once again.  It has already begun to happen. 😮
The most recent Hollywood version of Noah’s flood was not Biblically accurate by ANY stretch of the imagination and it definitely did NOT accurately portray our AWESOME heavenly Father.  Sorry if you wasted your money on it. I hate the way our loving Heavenly Father was portrayed in it. 😡 He is not some vengeful, absentee landlord dispensing judgment from a distance.  NO!!!  He is the Most wonderful, the most loving, and the most gracious Father Who gave up His only begotten, beloved Son to save all of us! 💖💖💖
Far from being absentee, He was actually with Noah and his family IN THE ARK all while the flood was raging outside, which we discussed in part 2.  In case you missed it, you may follow the link below:
Secrets In The Hebrew Language.
Now, let’s look at the opening passage again, align each name with it’s meaning translated from the Hebrew, and read the wonderful message from our Father that the Holy Spirit has hidden for us:
Mahalalel……..blessed God
“Man is appointed mortal sorrow. But the blessed God will come down teaching (with his mouth).  His death will bring powerful rest.” 💖
It’s a message of encouragement to us!  Thank you Abba! 💖
Timeline Of The Last Days.
What does this passage have to do with the end times?  I’m sure you noticed the curious meaning of Methuselah’s name.  Why do you think Enoch was so motivated to serve God with his whole heart?  Because God had spoken to him and shared with him what He was planning to do, i.e, send the flood of Noah’s day to destroy all life.  That’s why he gave his son that name.
That’s our God!  He always warns His people of what He is about to do so we will not fear and we will be prepared.
Confused Emoji
It’s very clear from the meaning of “Mutu’s” name that, when this boy died, God was going to bring down judgment on all mankind worldwide.  All of their neighbors who knew of Enoch and his son no doubt understood what his name meant, too.  I’ll bet with every sneeze or hiccup they wondered, “Is this it? Is this the day God is going to send judgment?”
With every birthday, can’t you just imagine all the angels, (particularly the warrior ones?), asking God, “This year, God?”….and next year….”is it this year?” (Water pails in hand perhaps? 🤨). But our God LOVES mercy, NOT judgment.  He is SLOW to anger (aren’t we glad for that!), not willing that any should perish. This boy is the embodiment of that particular attribute of God. That’s why Methuselah was the oldest living man.  God drew that boy’s years out on and on and on and on until he was 969 years old; older than even Adam, who lived to be 930.  He did not want to give that order.
But at last, He had to say, “Enough!”  The very day Methuselah died, Noah and his family were shut into the ark, and the greatest deluge of all time commenced.
At some point prior to the flood, Enoch, who walked with God like no one before him, just “walked right into heaven.”  God translated him and he is there to this day, long before the great flood came and destroyed everyone outside the ark.
At God’s command, the fountains of the deep burst open, the windows of the heavens were opened, and the greatest destruction of all time fell upon the earth.  Everything in which was the breath of life and everyone, except for the eight people in the safety of the ark, DIED.
Enoch, who never tasted death but was translated instantly by God and taken into heaven, is a picture of the RAPTURE GENERATION.  That’s us, Church! 🙌🏻💖 Before the worst of times of all hits planet earth during the Great Tribulation, we who belong to Jesus will quite suddenly and without warning be taken out of this world in the greatest disappearance of all time!  I’m sure it will cause no little terror and confusion.

That’s right:  When the Great Tribulation hits the earth threatening to destroy all life, BELIEVERS WILL NOT BE HERE.  In fact, the Bible says that if God did not cut those days short, all life would be extinguished! 😮
Pictures Of Jesus.
Most importantly, God is pointing to Jesus in this account of the real-live, world-wide deluge.
Who was it that took our place?
Who endured all God’s fiery indignation and wrath in our stead?
Whose death brings powerful rest?
See what I mean?  Even if we don’t always understand….and we don’t…..God really does have a reason for everything He wrote in the Bible.  And that, Church, is one of the reasons why Genesis 5 is in the Bible!
You may follow the link below to Part 7 where we will review the topic of the Nephilim and how they will return in the last days.  But don’t worry:  It might not be what you think:
