God’s Protection Plan: Tabernacle Series Part 8

The Glory Of The Lord Is Your Rear Guard

Revelation 6:1-2
“6 Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.” 2 And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.”
(Jesus in heaven with a golden girdle about His breast.)
In this part of our study on the Tabernacle, God shows us His personal protection plan for His people. As we did in the previous article, we will begin with the last book of the Bible.
The Four Horsemen.
Chapter 6 of Revelation describes the dreaded four horsemen that will be unleashed upon the earth in the latter days. This will happen after the rapture of the Church and before the Second coming.  We will first study a little bit about each horseman, then tie it all together. What do they have to do with the Tabernacle of Moses? Come and see!
The Rider On The White Horse.
In the opening scripture, the rider on the white horse about which the angel is talking, is the spirit of Anti-Christ. He will spew out lies and false doctrines, deceiving the nations.  It’s plain to see that the kinds of things he will be unleashing on the earth are already beginning to happen. But if you think its bad now, wait until the Holy Spirit and His Church are taken out of the world in the Rapture!  It will become pandemic! Believe me, you do NOT want to be left behind when it hits! 😲
The Rider On The Red Horse.
Revelation 6:3-4
“3 When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature call out, “Come!” 4 And out came another horse, bright red; its rider was permitted to take peace from the earth, so that people would slaughter one another;and he was given a great sword.”
This also is beginning to happen.  Again, it is going to get exponentially worse during the Great Tribulation.  Horrific terror attacks are happening all over the world, lawlessness is running rampant, and the very fabric of society seems as if it’s completely unraveling. Bad is good, good is bad; black is white, white is black. The world is rapidly going crazy, spinning out of control.

All these things are just the beginning of sorrows; birth-pangs if you will, of a world that longs for true peace.  Sadly, when the Church is taken out of the world and satan is loosed on this earth, things will be so bad, it will make all of these horrific events look like an afternoon picnic.  It will be so terrible that, if God doesn’t cut those days short, there would be no one left alive. 😲

The Rider On The Black Horse.

Revelation 6:5-6. “When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.”

The rider on the black horse with scales in his hand spreads lack and famine on the earth.  Today, in advance of this horseman, there are pockets of lack and famine here and there.  But in the days just prior to Jesus’ return, this will occur on a global scale.

The Rider On The Pale Horse.
Revelation 6:7-8
“When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” So I looked and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, and by the beasts of the earth.”
Last of all is the rider on the pale horse. The one that sat on him “…was Death, and Hades followed with him.” It goes on to say that “power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the **beasts of the earth.”
  1. **The phrase, “Beasts of the earth” in this verse is a diminutive term in Greek.  It is referring to tiny, invisible organisms which cause all manner of diseases; invisible to the naked eye, that is: Viruses, biological weapons, Ebola, S.A.R.S., incurable diseases like A.I.D.S., the Coronavirus in all its forms, etc.

Folks, that means 25% of the world’s population will be wiped out by these things! 😮

(How the enemy attacks us.)

GOD’S PLAN.

Well fear not, Church! Our God has a perfect protection plan to protect us from the dangers in the last days. Our first clue is found in the book of Ezekiel, who had a very strange vision in which he described four living beings:
“10 As for the likeness of their faces, each had the FACE OF A MAN; each of the four had the FACE OF A LION on the right side, each of the four had the FACE OF AN OX on the left side, and each of the four had the FACE OF AN EAGLE.
Sound familiar?  It should! You’ve already met these creatures.  They are the exact same creatures that John described in Revelation. (Are you sensing a pattern here? 😉)
(Living creature of Ezekiel’s vision.)
Then Zechariah, in chapter 6, verses 1-6, also records seeing “Four horses.”  The angel who spoke to him in his vision, however, called these horsemen, “The four winds.” Hmmm…..Let’s go connect the dots now and see how all these things fit in with the Tabernacle of Moses and ancient Israel.
Camp In The Wilderness.
God had the Israelites set up their camp in a very particular order.  The names of each tribe, their individual banners, and general lay out speaks volumes!  Through all these things, the LORD is showing us the best way to conduct our lives in order to keep us safe, especially in the perilous times just prior to Jesus’ return; you know, like NOW.
(Camp configuration of the encampment of Israel.)
Keil and Delitzsch, two well-known Hebrew scholars, have translated the Greek New Testament into Hebrew for our Hebrew-speaking Israeli brethren.  This is what they say about the camp of the Israelites:
“According to Rabbinical tradition, the standard of Judah bore the figure of the Lion, Reuben’s banner had the likeness of a Man’s head, Ephraim’s the figure of an Ox, and Dan’s the figure of an Eagle.”
How cool is that?  Reuben’s banner was the one with the likeness of The Son and his name means, ” See the Son,” in Hebrew! 😁
Now, if you were facing north, the tribe to your right on the east side would be Judah.  On their banner was the figure of a Lion.  In front of you on the North side you would see the the tribe of Dan with a FlyingEagle on their banner. To your left toward the West, you would see the tribe of Ephraim with a picture of an Ox on their banner; and on the South side behind you would be the tribe of Reuben with the face of a Man on their banner. {see picture below.}
(Devil’s attacks from the four directions are thwarted by Jesus!)
Ezekiel 1:10 reads, “As for the likeness of their faces, each had the face of a MAN; each of the four had the
face of aLION on the right side, each of the four had the face of an OX on the left side, and each of the four had the face of an EAGLE.”
These figures are all in the same position and listed in the same order as the banners of the tribes of Israel! 😮 What are they?  The four faces of Jesus described by each of the four Gospels!
All the fullness of the godhead dwells in Jesus. 🙌🏻 A complete description of that fullness is found in the four Gospels.  Reading them over and over and over and over again will form in us the kingly qualities of Matthew, a servant’s heart from Mark; The human empathy in Luke’s Gospel; and the Godly identity, the keen sight, and prophetic vision from John’s account.
Genealogies.
For those of you who have been following along in this series, this will be review:
Matthew and Luke both contain genealogies of Jesus.  Matthew’s gospel, where Jesus is portrayed as the King of the Jews, certifies His legitimate claim to the throne.  In fact, he has a double claim because both parents were direct descendants of King David, even though Joseph provided no seed.  The genealogy here begins with David, the king.  Abraham is also mentioned as it was to him that was first given the promise of kingship, but also of the land.
Luke’s gospel, where Jesus is portrayed most often as the Son of Man, certifies by his record that Jesus is 100% man.  That is why his record goes all the way back to Adam, the first man.

(For more on who was the rightful king of Israel at the time of Jesus’ birth, (and it wasn’t Herod), as well as some little-known history, you may follow the link below and read all about “The Inn” where Jesus should have been welcome 🤨):
(Every tent faced toward the Tabernacle.)

Configuration Of The Camp.

Back to Israel’s encampment….

Every tent was pitched facing toward the tabernacle to demonstrate that everything in our lives must point toward Jesus.  When Israel camped like that in the desert, their backs were obviously exposed to potential enemy attacks; yet there is no record that they ever were attacked.  When you and I, Church, do the likewise, meaning when we keep our focus on Jesus, GOD  TAKES CARE  OF OUR  BACK.  He is our rear guard!

You see, if we turn around with our backs toward Jesus and try to handle our problems ourselves, or the problems of the world, who is staring us in the face?  The devil, for whom we are NO match.

So turn around, Church!  Let Jesus take care of him!  The BATTLE BELONGS TO THE LORD and He has given us the victory!

If the enemy comes in from the North, what does he see?  The face of a fierce EAGLEand the attack is thwarted!  If he comes from the West, he is gored by THE OX.  Defeated again!  If he tries to attack from the south, he sees the face of JESUS, The One Who crushed his head!  No success there!  If he tries to attack from the East, he sees the face of THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH!!!  Complete and utter defeat on all fronts!

Notice, in the picture of the four living creatures above, you and I cannot be seen because we are hidden in the midst of them! This is the Secret Place of the Most High where you and I are safe and secure.  What a beautiful picture The Holy Spirit has painted for us of what it means to be “Hid with Christ in God.”

This is the safest…..NO; it’s the ONLY….way to live:  To Face our “tents” toward Jesus–The Tabernacle–and allow the Glory of The Lord to be our rear guard.

That’s our God’s Protection Plan!

You may follow the link below to the last part of this series, #9. We’ll learn about the coverings of the Tabernacle and see just how covered and protected we are!
